Turning the tables on scammers and wasting their time is so entertaining. By using Lenny, I can tie them up on the phone, preventing them from targeting another unsuspecting person. It’s a simple way to fight back!

I was talking to my friend Nick last night, and we came up with a new approach to dealing with scam calls. Instead of hanging up right away, the goal is to keep them on the phone for as long as possible.

Why? Every minute Lenny is talking a scammer is a minute they can’t be calling and scamming someone else.

Today, Lenny was phone with a scammer from “Secure One” for six minutes. That’s six minutes they weren’t preying on a vulnerable person.

Imagine the impact if more people did this. We could significantly reduce the number of potential victims by wasting their time. It’s a small act of resistance, but it could make a big difference.

I was tired of junk calls, so I built my own solution using FreePBX. I now forward my cell phone to a DID (Direct Inward Dialing) number that I manage with FreePBX. The calls are handled by a softphone, and with a little help from my friends Brad and Brandon, I set up the legendary call-trolling bot, Lenny.

It’s been a game changer. I set up a new DID ending in “00” and, just minutes after creating the inbound route for Lenny, I got my first victim!
